Understanding Southern Painting’s 3-Year Transferable Warranty
June 04, 2026A written, transferable warranty is one of the clearest signs a painter truly stands behind their work, and at Southern Painting, we back every completed job with a 3-year limited labor warranty. This warranty isn’t just a piece of paper; it’s a promise that reflects our commitment to quality workmanship and your peace of mind. In this post, we’ll explain exactly what our warranty covers, what it does not, how it works, and why its transferability is especially valuable.
What Our Warranty Covers
Our 3-year limited labor warranty guarantees the workmanship on completed paint services. This means that for three years from the date of application, we ensure that the paint will not peel, blister, or flake. This guarantee applies solely to the workmanship aspect of our services, allowing us to stand behind the quality of our team’s efforts.
It’s important to note that not all areas carry the same duration of warranty coverage. Specifically, doors and French or wood windows are covered for one year rather than three. This shorter term reflects the unique wear and exposure these areas often endure.
What Is Not Covered
Transparency is key to understanding our warranty—there are specific items not covered to prevent any surprises:
-
Caulk: Caulk is not covered by the warranty as it naturally ages over time and is subject to environmental conditions.
-
Horizontal Surfaces, Galvanized Metal, and Rust: These surfaces frequently face harsher conditions, and any associated issues are not included under our warranty.
-
Decks and Mildew: Due to their exposure and maintenance needs, these items are also excluded.
-
Other Interior or Exterior Moisture Damage: Including damage from house shifting or settling, which is outside the scope of our workmanship warranty.
Additionally, it’s important to know that the warranty covers workmanship only. The paint product itself is covered by its manufacturer, such as Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or PPG. Damage from causes outside our control, such as regular aging, wear, foundation problems, wood rot, weather, and severe blistering or caulk separation due to intense or direct heat is also not covered by the warranty.
How the Warranty Works
In the event of a covered workmanship issue within the three-year period, reporting it in writing will set our process in motion. Your local Southern Painting team will inspect the issue, and if it falls under the warranty, we will repair the paint in the affected area only. It is essential to note that this warranty does not include the repair of underlying substrates like wood, Masonite, brick, or metal, nor does it cover consequential damage. Thus, the repair of the defective painted area is the sole remedy provided by our warranty.
Why Transferability Matters
The true value of our warranty lies not only in what it covers but also in its transferability. Should you decide to sell your home within the warranty period, this warranty transfers in full to the new owner. This can be an appealing feature for buyers, providing them with the reassurance that the workmanship is backed by Southern Painting. All warranty services are handled by the local Southern Painting team, ensuring consistency and support right in your community.
Any home-specific exclusions to our warranty are clearly disclosed in writing on the estimate before work begins. For the exact and complete terms, we encourage you to review the full written warranty provided to you.
